I’ve been playing Ragnarok Online since it launched in June, 2003. I’ve always made it a point to check-in at the PVP rooms every now and then especially if I just bought new equipment. What bugged me the most about the PVP system in RO is that you really don’t get anything out of it except for a good ego-boost if you’re on the winning side. Fortunately for us, that’s about to change. To spice up the PVP aspect of the game, Gravity is currently developing a PVP Battlefield system.

What’s so special about this new feature?

The PVP Battlefield system will give players a reason to go PVP’ing other than the usual War of Emperium sieges. Players that participate in the fights will gain points that they can trade in for rare in-game item rewards such as newly developed set armors, weapons, and accessories. This system will also allow players to win various resource items such as potions, scrolls, and buffs. Level-up can further support this by coming up with an online scoreboard wherein players can visit a website and they’ll be able to see who the best PVP’ers are in the Philippines. Now that’s an ego boost, Lol.

We’ll be hearing more about this feature because this will be uploaded in Korea in November 2007. That’s just a few months from now so it’s only a matter of time before we hear from the Korean play testers about the actual mechanics of the PVP Battlefield. The PVP Battlefield System combined with the new Siege 1.5 will definitely give competitive RO gamers a renewed motivation to play!
