Gaming: Ragnarok Freya Minor Rollback

After a few hours of investigating, we’ve come to the conclusion that it is simply humanly impossible to do partial rollbacks for Freya in order to purge the spreading of the dupe items due to several players who were caught. In order to restore the economy and the game intergrity, we’re left with no choice but to do a minor Freya rollback (Inventory, Kafra, Cart, and Zenny) to 12 noon of June 14, 2007. Freya will be down for emergency maintenance tomorrow (June 16), 11:30AM - 1:30PM so that we can implement the changes. The reason why we can’t do the rollback now is because the GM Team needs more time in banning the dupers.

When we do the rollback tomorrow noon, Freya will be back to a cleaner state. Hopefully the economy will pick up and the game will be back on track. Announcement should go up in a few minutes so just watch out for it. Take note guys that the rollback will not affect character level so you can still level tonight if you want. I’ll try to post again later tonight if I can.

  8. please reinvestigate Q56OH We, together with many others, are victims of bugs due to server merge. The hack bugged happened on June 6, 2007, some called it “friendly bugged” bec. many of those who have RO charcters with friends registered have been victimized. Likewise, dupe started on June 1 2007. It is not mainly dupe that destroy the game but also the buuged hack beyond the control of the players.

    Recognizing this you’ve posted in the site that youre going to roll the game back to June 1 but We surmised that due to some business considerations LUG has decided to spare us in, for a face-saving gesture, resolving the issue. Please be true to your words cos your disaapopinting us even more. Your word must be the rule otherwize players will not respect you.

    If you roll back to June 1 2007 we believe that it is the most fair decision. Only hackers and dupers would pray that you move a few day backwards bec they knew that what they did before that time will not be affected.

  11. i think the best way is DUPE WIPE OUT! hndi rollback… Please considerate each player’s condition. If rollback ang ggawin nyo, Yung mga nagPHP and ngloload ng mga harvesters nila pra mkabili ng items. Oo mejo Illegal yun or cge illegal tlga pero how about those who are playing their characters manually? tapos yung mga nagrerent pa sa mga shops and cafe.     This is a great move against those cheaters indeed. Hopefully hindi ma-apektuhan yung binili kong GR nung June 3. Hehe.

    Anyway, the GMs are quite vigilant about this matter. A lot of players are getting a hard time with these fellows. Dapat lang na magkaron ng rollback.

    Rollback is a good idea to save some innocent players who pick up

    the duped items and counterplot the evil scheme of dropping duped

    items.

    And after that kind of rollback, If you won’t banned the innocent

    players who pick up the duped items. Then the dupers would prevail .

    If some *innocent players* would complain, ignore it. . That’s the only

    solution to this problem. Take note, Freya is only a decoy server.

    Recheck all servers especially Thor and Baldur.

    Keep tracking the main accounts of the dupers.

    The Dupers would use this kind of scheme to escape with the zenny

    accumulated from the duped they sold.

    They gonna use multiple accounts and the main account is labeled X.

    As I have explained in the recent topic, I hope LUG’s IT can get X

    banned cause that kind of account never use a duped item rather

    it only get the zennies from the duped accounts who acquire or

    profit their zenny.

    I repeat Freya server is only a decoy, get rid of all duped items from all

    servers asap and banned all players who has this duped items and

    don’t be considerate of the innocent players caught having multiple

    duped items or even a single duped items, please banned also the

    accounts labeled X, which profited from the duped selling. Also, please

    check X’s history where it put some zenny to several X accounts via

    mailbox before it got disabled or bought some items consumable like

    Mastela and etc then transferred to other X accounts via trade or

    mailbox or buy a decoy item from auction.

    This problem is not only with Freya but as all other servers. The dupers

    on Freya just want to buy time to save the other dupers on other

    servers and that’ a big no-no. Target Baldur then Thor. Cause the

    dupers on those two servers are practically playing safe.

    If this campaign would succeed, then a lot of players would return

    that’s an assurance.

    Wipeout is not anymore an option on this three servers.

    Banning many accounts ia the best solution to this problem.

    If they would complain, and you guys disable their banned

    period just they went to your office or submitted and file tickets

    that won’t be fair.

    Be true to your objectives not letting anyone caught with duped items

    exempted even if it’s innocent that’s the only solution to save the

    game. If some majority players still act innocent and complain then

    there’s rollback the particular server after Freya.

    (Freya, Baldur, Thor) priority for removing the duped items.

    Tyr is the last to be recheck then Urdr.

    Time to restore the game’s integrity while there’s still a fragment of

    hope left.

    I never indicated anything refferring to what I mentioned just cards

    it only means everything not just cards.

    Well, I would see it to the end, how LUG would solve this mess,

    for example, the patient on a clinic, have a cancer. They operated

    and remove the cancerous cell on the patient. Later, the patient’s

    condition get worst since the cancer have returned meaning the

    operation went to fail. I hope, this is not only a temporary remedy

    to the RO system but be a permanent solution to all the problem.

    I would assume, if after several months then would be off guard

    and lost the composure then the duped thing would return again.

    As said, to remove the cancer from the system. Get the permanent

    therapy ready soon as possible. As I see it’s just temporary

    and they would attempt to recreate duped items again they just

    waiting for the intensity from the LUG be gone before they would

    take another action or probably some have given up since these

    dupers have profited already.

    3) permanently ban chars of guilty suspects
    4) dont roll back server (kawawa bumibili sa hypermart)
    5) delete items that were duped

    long term foresight:

    napaka dali bumalik sa RO ng duper na yan. at dahil marunong cya mag dupe, napakadali yumaman ulet. so all he has to do is make another char and dupe again. so cycle lang ang mangyayari.

    what has to happen is LUG should trace ip address of duper and have him jailed. consult your lawyers kung anong pwedeng ikaso sa bwetreng yan!!!

  69. reading the posts here makes me think how most people really enjoy pointing the finger on other people. heh after reading suggestions of isp banning, continuous rollback, or even legal prosecution of the parties involved, it makes me wonder if those same people especially those who adamantly insist on the following actions, are aware that, in all probability, they too deserve the same punishments based on their own reasoning and justifications. ^^
    after all, its human nature to exploit a given situation for their own benefit. Duping, botting, scamming, php selling/buying are examples of these in ro, and i doubt that anyone here is innocent of any of these activities, ergo based on people’s comments above dapat di lang dupers ang parusahan, pati botters at nakikinabang ng benefits ng botting e.g. buyers of goods from these activities, scammers, php sellers and buyers. after all di ba, technically speaking these are all game violations? @@

    in other words, what im trying to get at is this: most of us should think before suggesting, and metaphorically casting the first stone. analyze how much you yourself are culpable in the existing scenario of ro right now. di naman naging ganito ang ro sa isang araw or isang incident lamang.
    the best solution to the problem of duping really is to change the situation that has made it possible for duping to take place in the first place. This will then minimize/eradicate the opportunity for people to exploit it. this means better service in terms of map connections/server connections and probably an installation of an anti-dupe program.

    then to catch duppers, plan a sting, announce an emergency maintenance so that duppers will prepare, then just scout at places where there is a kafra, most probably thats one way to catch the bug abusers.

    I agree with most of the things you said exept the part where you said x labeled accounts be banned by selling dupes cause there are lots of dupes in Freya and lets say someone bought a Dupe Item and he/she did not know that the item was a dupe and later she wanted to buy a better version of it so he/she sold it… so he/she will be banned ? >_> I’m sure if you do this most of the people in Freya will be banned ^^

    There are no more other solution anyway, since the duped items

    are wayback since October of 2006 started. Well, there’s no more

    room for saving innocent players cause some of them are

    really dupers in disguise.

    Rollbacks better solution if majority of players file tickets due to

    their accounts been banned and claiming innocence.

    If LUG would just eliminate duped items, it just save the pretending

    innocent players but really dupers, so banning accounts is the best

    solution so far. Of course, it won’t stop the dupers cause they would

    just create new accounts and probably buy zenny in PHP to start

    all over this duped thing again. Even if their characters are banned,

    it’s easy for them to recover since they already have gained money

    in selling zennies gained from selling duped items. Thus, recreating

    again this duped situation all over again.

    For the sake of game integrity and prolonging the lifespan of Ragnarok

    Online 1, That’s the best solution. Sacrifices are really needed tending

    for some fedup players or unsatisfied players to quit.

    The dropping of duped items in Freya during that span of period

    is just a cover up, so LUG would pay attention only to Freya

    disregarding some greedy wise dupers from other servers (Baldur and

    Thor) taking advantage of doing some nasty transferring and deletion

    of decoy accounts. In Thor, duped items are used for WOE purposes

    only they have no intent of selling it that’s the reason it can’t be

    seen vend on prontera area. They vend it one at a time only, so they

    won’t be notice. Since there’s no evidence, cause some of the duped

    items are not questionable so that conceals the duped items. I hope

    LUG would keep it going banning them.

    I am a Software Engineer and I do know a thing or two about networking since I graduated Electronics and Communications Engineering and I am a licensed Engineer.

    I would just like to say that showing that YM log proves nothing technically. Show SOLID PROOF!

    One thing I would like to emphasize is what Myruz pointed out. TRACEROUTE.

    Traceroute shows you the path that your internet connection takes to the server you are connecting to. Andaling ma-pinpoint na sa inyo ang problem dahil nagre-request timed out ang traceroute pagpasok na sa IP address ninyo.

    There could be two things causing the traceroute to terminate when it reaches your IP. One being the connection of LUG to Bayantel is being blocked/impeded and the second being a mismatch of ip/timeout settings between LUG and Bayantel.

    Either way I can’t see how Bayantel could be the source of the problem because the disconnections started happening after your maintenance and admit it or not you did something to your servers.

    Please explain to me technically or at least ask your IT Department Head how Bayantel is the source of the problem.

    Im posting technically now since all I hear from you guys is “Bayantel ang may problem di kami” without solid proof while Bayantel has SOLID PROOF which we can see is true.

    Brewer in Freya

    @wauks I have also given a report to customer care about the issue with regards to alchemist points in freya server. I have noticed the following:
    1. Top list Points were not rolled back at the later date stated.
    2. When a brewer who actually brewed for points before the rollback occured after 12noon as stated in the news the points were never reverted from the old scoring
    3. The points still remained and their witch starsands came back so they will be able to double the points they get from the witch starsands which is the main ingredient and probably the most expensive raw material in brewing white slims.
    4. Please check also those who have duped even the witchstarsands because i myself have been able to receive news that they are actually duping witchstarsands so that they can prevail in accumulating points and selling at lower prices so that they can affect the prontera market where almost all brewers are selling their brewed bottles.

    I still do have faith in LUG and that almost all brewers are hoping for the resolution of the said issue. Thank you
