Gaming: Ragnarok Dupe Wipe Update

I think the hottest topic today after the latency problems and the merge would be the dupe item deletion. We announced this earlier during one of the server merge updates and we’ve gotten mixed reactions over it. A lot of players were happy, but at the same time a lot of players were also worried. I just came back from an EB party of Baldur hosted by gamers and I opened this topic up to them. We had a very good discussion and I would like to share with everyone what possible solutions we came up with. I’d appreciate it a lot if you guys can leave a comment saying which option you’d prefer and why.

OPTION 1: DELETE ALL THE DUPES
This is pretty self-explanatory. We deleted all the items with the same serial numbers all at the same time. There will be no compensation and we will do this in just one maintenance. This was the original plan of action.

OPTION 2: DON’T DELETE ANYTHING
I am really NOT inclined to do this. We should make an effort to preserve game integrity no matter the cost. The lack of rarity makes RO so easy to play that it actually shortens the lifespan of the business.

OPTION 3: DELETE ALL THE DUPES, BUT GRADUALLY
To minimize the shock factor, we delete the duped items one type at a time. We will just pick maybe 10-15 high value items (boss cards, SGH, etc.) and delete 2-3 every week. Players that are affected get a token ticket which they can trade in at certain NPCs for zenny or token in-game items that won’t disrupt game balance.

    this will also be better since you guys are starting a competition and this would be a GREAT start
    question: will it also mean that the original items (source of the duped item) be also deleted?


  8. Thanks for the comments guys, keep it up. For the token item, we were thinking of giving a headgear that you can’t find anywhere else and it probably won’t be sold in the hypermart. It won’t have good stats (so as not to disrupt game balance) but at least it will make you look cool. heh Given the right conditions, you can easily sell those items for a good price.

    kawawa cla kung ma wipe ang SGH nila or boss card nila ng di nila alam na dupe pala.

    This will make some of those selfish players silent who are posting non-sense reactions and are even blackmailing LUG for quitting the game if ever they lose THEIR PRECIOUS PIXEL ITEMS that they got for whatsoever reason.. muha

    Maybe you’re right.. but i think LUG is already having a hard time making people come back.. so they are just trying to preserve(or whatsoever) the ones that are still in the game.

  20. Kasi if you don’t delete them all, then the ones who duplicated them will still have them. If you gave them tokens, then they would still benefit from the dupe deletion, if they still have some of the said dupped items in their possession.

  23. well option 3 seems to be a good choice… but why not delete all the dupe items at once and give the tokens as well? I comment on this because as a buyer, even with the promise of a token, I’d still fear buying anything until all dupe items have been deleted, plus it lessens the hassle for us players to check what items have been settled and what items haven’t been settled. It keeps us safe in a way.

  35. No offense but don’t you think these measures are too late? These steps should have been implemented a long long time ago. If this has been done early when the issue was discovered, sana di ganun kalaki impact.

    Will deleting dupe items punish the person who duplicated the item or the person who bought a duped item? Yung nag dupe kase, nabenta na nya yung gamit, na sell na nya yung zennys in PHP. Paano naman yung nakabili ng item walang kamalay-malay?

    however, if it would be possible to track the person who originally duped the original item, i think that person should be given a more severe “punishment”… anyway, that’s just my two cents…

    Delete dupe items then give the victims a token which they could use to provide LU with evidence of fair trade done so as to be provided with the exact compensation.

    yan po win-win situation na yan… ok lang if medyo mababagalan dyan but its the best… saka malalaman mo naman if duper e… marami sya makukuhang token so pwede magduda LU…. saka for those who choose option 1 siguro kau ung nagpapagod ngayon hunt at ipon para makakuha ng rare items, kami naman ung mga taong tapos na magipon pero agrabyado…

  42. Option 1 without a doubt.
    To keep the balance and integrity of the game, you should delete all the duped item at once. If you delete the duped items gradually then someone will still use or even get to sell those items, so delete them all at once for the other players sake and save them from being victimized of these said items.

    I agree!!! option 1 na dapat kasi kung paunti-unti ang pagtanggal may chance na makabili pa rin kami ng duped items!!! At tungkol naman sa token reward parang hindi maganda dahil parang yung mga duper pa rin ang mas makikinabang, hindi naman lahat ng dinupe nila eh nabenta na nila kaya sila parin ang makakakuha sa mga token na yan. Kaya go for option 1!!!

    Minsan, kailangan talaga magsakripsyo para sa mas masaya, malinis at balanseng paglalaro.

  61. hmmm how about a combination of options 1 and 3. delete all dupes in one maintenance (thus, not gradually) and then replace with tokens or whatever with value those who got dupe items.

    kung bbgyan ng game balance dpat immediately na kasi magstart na RPC on saturday.

  70. My vote goes for OPTION 1… get rid of this dupes once and for all. Sa mga nakabili ng dupes, pasensyahan nalang… ang sisihin nyo ang mga bug abuser.     Muka naman walang win-win solution e. Luging-lugi mga biktima ng duped items na to.

    Heto suggestion ko…Wipe out ng boss-cards at godlike items pero leave the other stuff behind.

    Let’s face it may kakulangan din ang LUG kaya lumaganap ang dupe tapos sila pa etong nagsabi na ok na bumili ng dupe yun pala laganap parin yung dupes items sa market.

    I don’t like the given solutions kasi maski na yung OPTION 3 e kawawa parin mga inosenteng matatamaan e.

    As for me, pag nawala yung items ko expect a complaint/lawsuit filed against you dahil mismong customer care ninyo nagsabing ok lang na bumili ako ng item dahil wala ng dupes.


  83. I’d go for OPTION 1: DELETE ALL THE DUPES.

    Frankly, because this may pose another possible problem in the future: 1) If systems go down/if the system is bugged, would you consider another compensation? That’ll be another burden in LU’s part; 2) You’re giving time for the dupers to hold a grand sale on their duped items before the items actually become deleted. Even with the token/ticket thing, if the duped items are sold, those that gain more are still the dupers.

    Go all out. The more you become lenient on lawbreakers and the issue, the more the system is abused. muha

    Dagdag ko lang. Ako din I would like to do the wipe ala one time big time and delete the original items along with the copies.

    No sense in keeping the original item since dupers lang ang makikinabang jan.

    Gaya ng sinabi ko ang fair dupe wipe for me is Wipe out all boss cards and god-like items. Kasi yun sure mong sobrang valuable nakakapagtaka na ang daming ganun. Sa Freya ngayon sandamak-mak naka SGH e, duda ko duped yun.

    Pero yung items like +10 superior boots, yan ang hirap sabihin kung duped nga yan o hindi kasi sa tagal na ng servers i believe na andami na talaga +10 items jan kaya hirap sabihin kung bibili ka kung dupe nga yan o hindi.

    If I give you the name of the stupid customer support personnel who told me that there are no more duped items can you assure me that this idiot gets the punishment/firing she deserves?

    Yes its a SHE. Im looking at the email I got from her right now and it makes me loose my cool and run amock here at home. If it weren’t for her I wouldn’t be in this situation.

    I’d like the game to be fair but what about the game being fair to me? I have been playing the game since beta day. My first character being a battle mage. I take pride in what I have accomplished in my so called “RO Life” if you would and I’d hate for everything I have worked so hard for go down the drain just like that.

    AFAIK, di na nakakapagdupe ngayon. Inayos na nila yung pag magme-maintenance e pwede magdeal. Alam ko yun ang sinasabi nilang solution e.

    Disabled ang trading at logging-into the game a few minutes before the maintenance begins.

    ang dami ko kilala sa server namin na duper pero until now intack p din ung mga items, nasa kafra pa din nila. kahit i delete nyo dupe items kami pa din mga inosente ang mapeperwisyo dahil ang mga duper kumita na ng limpak limpak na php pero kami nawalan n ng php, zeny pati items mawawala p!!!

    delete all items, as in ALL, back to zero lahat para mas FAIR!

  107. I believed the only solution to make Dupe Wipe-Out to be possible is “Delete all dupes including the original/copied items but make RO a Free to Play forever” prior to that organize a discussion for the Pros and Cons. With that solution i’m confident that 90% of it will be Pros.

  113. glance gagawa ako option 4 palitan nyo n lng ng same items yung mga nabili naming dupe items….mas ok yun… tapos pag tuunan nyong pansin yung paano eto di na mauulit kasi kada mag maintenance o masira ang map meron dup items….may nagsabi sakin na kada mag maintenance para walang dup dapat mag serverdown ulit…yan ang pagisipan nyo….and finally yung sobrang LAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGG wala nga dup LAGGGGGGGGGGGGG naman…sana yan ang sundin yung option 4 go

  117. e1 yung pumipili ng option 1 siguro kayo yung duppers or weak character nyo kaya gus2 nyo delete all…pag isipan mong maigi yan mr. wauk maging patas kayo.. kayo gumastos ng mahigit 50k php sa zeny tapos nabili dup items..tapos erase all gawin nyo i trace down nyo yung mga duppers na yan at i palapa sa aso…wag nyong idamay ang buyer… hindi gaya yan ng DVD sa recto na alam mo yung pirated sa hindi.. dahil ang buyer hindi naman nila nakikita yung serial number ng gamit nila….kayo nkakaalam nyan dapat hanapin nyo kung sino yung mga dupper….mag isip ka muna ng masmagandang plano…para lahat happy parang nka revicon….
