Gaming: Ragnarok Dupe Wipe Update (6/21/07)

Well, I think now most of you see that the wipe was 100% true. Based from the recent text messages, calls, and YMs, it looks like the wipe was really potent because of the complaints flooding our customer support. There have been mixed reactions so far, with majority being happy because of the fair playing field. I would just like to address some issues before someone blows everything out of proportion yet again. I’d like to thank everyone though who supported this move. Read more about the dupe wipe aftermath after the jump.

First and foremost, if you bought the dupe item and you have evidence that you bought it like screenshots, then please file a ticket through the Level-up Customer Support system. If the trade was legit and fair then it will just take some time before it gets restored. However if the trade was bogus like 10 zenny for 1 SGH, then there is no assurance that we will give you back your 10 zenny. Take note that this will take TIME. I can’t say for sure how long it will take before a case like this gets resolved. A lot of players will be filing bogus claims and we will have to verify those as well.

Secondly, one of the most pressing questions is how do we stop the dupe? We deleted the items but they can easily dupe again. Well the answer is actually simple - we will run the anti-delete script everyday and maybe even 2x a day if there is a pressing need to do so. This is our safeguard while we are waiting for the final fix from Gravity. If you’re going to have a major transaction, I strongly suggest you always keep screenshots just so you have evidence that the trade actually happened. I’m pretty sure the other countries with Ragnarok can now breathe a sigh of relief because we’ve proven that the script exists. If this problem reaches iRO, jRO, or some other country, they can easily get the script and run it through their DB daily.

Lastly, I’d like to thank the guild leaders and players who have been stepping up lately giving Level-up names of duper suspects. The information that you guys give is valuable because it saves us time and it gives us a trail that we can just follow. Sometimes the characters that you give aren’t dupers, but when we check their IP, we find like 10 novice accounts filled with dupes.

Now that this is out of the way, I’ll have the team focus more on the other problems of RO - this includes the character transfer, rebirth bug, neuralizer bug, game time transfer, and of course - the Ragnarok Philippine Championships. I’ll give more updates on those issues as the days go by.

    ask ko lang panu ung na delete na items na binili pa nung la pa merge at matagal na nasamin. wala na screenshots un sigurado kasi unang una matagal na un at de pa uso dupe nun kaso nabura pa dn. Ano po mga pwedeng aksyons gawin para mabalik gamit.

    I think ung pang-wipe po ng dupes at indi gumagana ng ayus, kasi madami kami nawawalan ng gamit sa Baldur. Try visiting the reklamadors area in prontera. AKo kasi nawalan ng +7 grin buts lang naman po. Matagal na po sa akin un, Louyang Ep. pa nung na+7 ko ung buts na nakuha ko sa OVB.

    as for the ones that got hit, take it up with level-up CS… pero you had better be sure that your concerns are real.

    nakakahiya lang if you’re just a duper… or a willing dupe victim (MEANING you knew you were buying bootleg merchandise) and get any sympathy from them.

    @Wauks: ok yan. just re-check your scripts… you might actually be deleting legit stuff.


  18. LOL.. Hindi pwedeng aasa lang kayo sa script.. Masisira pa rin yung game economy niyan eh.. Paano kung loots or yung mahal kapag ibenta sa npc ang idudupe nila tapos benta agad sa npc??.. Hindi naman matatanggal nung script yung zeny na nakuha sa pagbenta ng dupe items sa npc eh.. Kaya wag niyong isipin na tapos na problema niyo sa dupes..

    Just make sure to take screenshots, especially if the transaction is a big one. The dupe process actually involves map crashing, so as soon as that is fixed and we run the script then there shouldn’t be any major problems afterwards. This is a temporary measure while we are waiting for the permanent fix from Gravity.

    Yep, I’ve been getting some reports that legit items got wiped as well. So far though all of the reports are bogus because when we checked they were actually dupes.

    If you have no screenshots, include all the data that you can think of - including when and where you bought it. You can say - 1st week of March or something like that.

    hmmmm you will run antidupe programs twice a day… wehy not just prevent them from duping? ganon ba kapanget version ng ragnarok online. ang laking butas iniwan duplication of items…

  29. Wauks, you did the RIGHT thing and you have my full support. For those without screenshots, don’t worry, I already instructed the pRO team to come up with a detailed process which will include how long (approximately) it will take to compensate and the parameters there too.

  35. I agree with everyone that it’s better to have a preventive measure but the problem is that falls in the hands of the developer. We’re doing our best to follow them up on it. In the meanwhile, this is really the best course of action that we can take.

    The dupe bug existed way before November 2006. I suggest you guys file tickets instead of just complaining here. File tickets first then complain, hehehe.

    dapat tuloy pa rin ang pag hunt sa mga dupers habang wala pa yung permanent fix from gravity. i encourage all players to e-mail or pm to sir wauks names of suspected dupers. sana ingat din ang LUG sa mga bogus claims.   75. wapak! got 2 of my items lost and got no screenshot of any trades.. the only thing I can justify it is a range of time..O_o I hope it can still be retieved.. it was better-off that it got lost in my hands rather that I traded it with somone else and made me a suspect..^^

    Duped Bug started way back October of 2006
    up until now and so on. ( Cause it’s still
    possible to create duped items since the
    anti duped script, and it’s function are
    to delete duped items not stopping the
    dupers from creating duped items and resell
    them to some npc). Probably I hope they
    added to their anti duped script a system that would detect the IP of the account that would create duped items then banned the account and the IP. Otherwise, they would have other ways
    of abusing the duped bug.

    Secondly, one of the most pressing questions is how do we stop the dupe? We deleted the items but they can easily dupe again. Well the answer is actually simple - we will run the anti-delete script everyday and maybe even 2x a day if there is a pressing need to do so. This is our safeguard while we are waiting for the final fix from Gravity. If you’re going to have a major transaction, I strongly suggest you always keep screenshots just so you have evidence that the trade actually happened. I’m pretty sure the other countries with Ragnarok can now breathe a sigh of relief because we’ve proven that the script exists. If this problem reaches iRO, jRO, or some other country, they can easily get the script and run it through their DB daily.

    Sad to say there still other possibilities for
    them to abuse duping best thing to do is to
    create a system that would track down the dupers IP and the acccount that would create new duped items from June 22,2007 4.01pm onwards and have it banned.

    Lastly, I’d like to thank the guild leaders and players who have been stepping up lately giving Level-up names of duper suspects. The information that you guys give is valuable because it saves us time and it gives us a trail that we can just follow. Sometimes the characters that you give aren’t dupers, but when we check their IP, we find like 10 novice accounts filled with dupes.

    Nice job, but some dupers use other means of
    creating dupes and changing their IP at the same
    time. Still the best solution is to create a
    script that would automatically track down
    accounts that would abuse dupes starting
    June 22, 2007 4.01pm onwards and have the IP
    and the account banned. So players won’t be
    disturb from their in-game plays.

    Now that this is out of the way, I’ll have the team focus more on the other problems of RO - this includes the character transfer, rebirth bug, neuralizer bug, game time transfer, and of course - the Ragnarok Philippine Championships. I’ll give more updates on those issues as the days go by.

    Since the duped issue is finally over.
    Please make a statement whether you guys have
    plan making bot legal in Thor or not since
    the use of bot in Thor is getting out of hand
    and the script for anti-bot is still out of
    reach for the sake of the decent players there
    in Thor. The Ragna Police though they do their
    job is not that much help at all. I hope it’s
    not a temporary solution if ever.
    From my point of view, players use other accounts for bot to gain zeny in Thor. And
    some other players use their main account for
    bot too ( easy leveling until 80 or 90+ ) then
    they would stop botting and join other players
    in fair leveling ground ( to avoid to be called
    a bot and such.
    So I’d like to know the future of Thor regarding
    bot cause there’s no improvement at all for the
    last 6 months.

  95. I think some Tyr players experienced unfair wipeout. A guildmate of mine accidentally duped all his equips when luina maps crashed while inside the agit. We were able to reconnect to our spawn point since we were inside the agit when it crashed. When the siege ended, he placed all his equips inside the kafra. After that, a rollback occured, his equips in kafra were intact but he also has a set equip in is character. We broke everything that was copied except for those items that are unupgradable(accesories, poohat, blinker). Now tell me, is it wrong to place your equips inside the kafra after siege? Of course there wouldn’t be screenshots to prove this case, but you can check your database, Tyr’s Luina did experience breakdowns during siege. If it had been the armors, I would have accepted it, but similar to a poster here, his CK was also wiped. I was the one who made that CK, and it’s not a dupe if you do know this name in RB.

  103. Nadamay sa wipeout pati yung hindi dupe. One of my friends complained that he lost his +7 Unfro Padded Armor (susme! Meron b duper magttyaga mgdupe nyan!?). Another friend lost his +9 set which he bought almost 3 years ago (3 yrs ago pa—d p uso dupe at certainly burado na SS sa deal na nakuha nya). Maganda na sana wipeout if it targetted only the duped items.

    I think filing a ticket will be just taken for granted and I believed the best solution for you to do in identifying players who was been victim by the dupe items is by comparing your previous database before you run the script to the latest database. From that you can start investigating the missing items in your latest database. I suggesting this to give some consideration for those who sacrifice their hard owned pesos and we are not just talking hundreds but thousands and as a professional you knew how hard to earned money. Just imagine your in their situation allocating 50% of your monthly income to give satisfaction to your self interest.

  119. I had fun with siege last night because all those “overpowered” guilds with duped items equipped up to the gills got a real and painful blow. You had it coming.

    Change doesn’t happen overnight. LUG is doing its best to resolve the issue but it cannot solve problems in just one go.

    I lost a GR+GTB combo last night. Masakit sa loob but heck, sa tagal na ng issue ng duped items sa RO, expected ko na may 60% chance na mawawala gamit ko. Nawala nga. Ang consuelo ko na lang sa sarili ko, mas masaklap ang experience ng mga dupers and lantarang gumagamit ng
