Since it’s already 100% sure I can safely announce this to the public. Starting 8:20PM tonight, the anti-dupe script will run and it will automatically delete all illegal items in the game on all servers. Other than that, we are still investigating players who are the ones who started this whole thing anyway. Other than the usual sanctions, there are also legal angles that I’ll look into depending on the severity of the case. The servers won’t have to go down anymore when we run the script, the items will just disappear. Read the official announcement after the jump.

As most of you know, there has been rampant abuse of the dupe exploit by some individuals motivated by greed and personal gain. The effect of these illegal items within the game and to the economy is massively detrimental. In accordance with Level-up Games Inc.’s license agreement with Gravity, and our efforts to maintain pRO’s game balance and integrity, we have no choice but to do a complete wipe of all illegal items starting 8:30PM tonight, June 20, 2007. This is a continuous process that will last until 4:00PM June 22, 2007. We strongly advise EVERYONE to refrain from trading, vending, or even selling items to other players during this critical period. During the wipe, there is no need to do maintenance unless there is an emergency.
To players who have evidence of their trades and affected by the wipe, you can send a ticket at www.levelupsupport.ph and the GM Team will investigate. If the trade was legitimate and fair (meaning you got the item but DID NOT know that it was an illegal copy), then we will compensate accordingly. Please provide the following information in your ticket: Username, Character name, Server, and Screenshots (if ever possible). Take note that tickets with incomplete information will not be entertained.
We would like to apologize for the inconvenience this has caused everyone. But we at Level Up firmly believe that this is for the good of the majority and for the continued integrity of Philippine Ragnarok Online. Note that there are no alternatives at this point and we are duty-bound by our agreement with Gravity to take this course of action.

Thanks also for doing something about the posted Agit Standing of WinterTsuki.
Hopefully, by June 28, when agit scoring resumes. There will be an agit scoring update every after siege. Thanks again and more power. And yes, give some legal actions on the players that started duping. But make sure they were the ones who started it.

So it only means that some dupers have already
started abusing by filing tickets. And they
have the capability of making their accounts
innocent in some way for example.
All of this three accounts are owned by the dupper.

B= Clean Account
C= Another Clean Account
B give 100m to A for the duped equip.
A give 100m to C to save the zenny earned from
dupped.
Later on, A got banned and B’s duped item are deleted. The 100m is still on posession of C.
The dupper filed ticket to compensate B.
Have a lot of evidence to make B’s account
to be a victim. Therefore, compensation was
approved making the dupper double his/her zenny.
After the compensation.
B gained 100m
B give 100m to C
End result A got banned and earned extra 100m
with less effort.
Well, there is nothing can be done anyway
many duper would gain a lot of compensation
using this kind of tactics. Since creating new accounts is not a problem.

Hi Waukeen,
I am not sure if the anti-dupe script will prevent all future dupe methods, or if it would only cover the current situation and delete the existing dupes. I am hoping it’s the former.
But if it is the latter, I hope that LUG would be running that anti-dupe script on a weekly basis… that is until they can come up with a sure fire way of preventing dupes from existing at the moment of materialization/ creation. Because unless this can be done, then there will eventually be other methods of duplication.
Personally, I think the problem lies with the way the game’s databases are set up. I am not sure how it is setup, but based from my IT experience… those kinds of problems occur if either you maintain two databases and they are not in sync… Or, the databases the game have do not have indexes, which would prevent a non-unique data from being posted to the tables.
If RO has an Item Master Database, I have a feeling this is what the devs should be focusing on – wiping out dupes won’t really solve the problem; it’s like a temporary fix. Finding out the root cause of the dupe and resolving it would end this problem as well.
Don’t get me wrong, I am glad that the dupes have been wiped. However, this must not make everyone complacent. We have to know why this exists, and what can be done to permanently remove this issue.

sir wauks sana ung compensation talagang “FAIR” sa victims, just 6pm today kta ko acct ko na wipe 2 kong items, victim ako ng dupe, i can provide tons of savechats at screenshots and i have filed 2 tickets na po… happy ako at mawawala na dupe im just afraid na lang po sa paraan ng pag compensate, sana ung hustisya ko e makamit ko naman.. those 2 items i lost were 2 years na paghihirap na ipon zeny via all ways possible including boss hunt and buy and sell.

Paano ang compensation nung mga dati pa nabili ng legal? Last year ko pa nabili yung SGH ko, tapus ngaun lang nawala. Wala naman kami screen shot kasi di pa naman well known yung issue ng duping last year.
