Gaming: Midgard Police and Ragnaboards Moderators Meeting

One of the projects that we launched was the Midgard Police program in Thor. It’s main goal was to have players police their own ranks and these people have a direct line to the GM/CS Team for reporting. We’ve been getting mixed feedback (good and bad) lately so we’ve called a meeting tonight to set some things right. We’ve also invited all the Forum Moderators of the Ragnaboards to go as well as we discuss the overhaul of the RB. The new Community Manager of Ragnarok will be taking the lead in making sure that the RB gets more TLC in the days to come.

The Midgard Police, on the other hand, will need some restructuring and fine tuning. They’ve been catching bots but it’s not enough to make a dent on the over-all bot population in Thor. Right now we have 10 MPs, and I’m planning on launching another recruitment drive so we can have more people that will patrol Thor. I’ll post the minutes of the meeting either tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

  3. Napapansin ko lang, nagpapatrol nga yata ang mga MP sa Thor pero parang hindi naman nababan mga botters na nakikita nila. Thats just MY opinion.

  9. I don’t think the problem are the Midgard Police… The problem is the GMs who do the banning. Where are they? No matter how many MPs you get, if the people responsible for actually banning the abusers/ botters are not around or are not doing anything… then everything else is for naught.

    Giving the MPs some banning powers might speed up the process; but that also opens the risk of having a chaotic community. Since MPs are not really LUG employees, you can’t really have a control over them. So I believe that MPs shouldn’t be given GM powers (except for tracking/ summoning the bots).

    Bottomline is… Have the GMs do their job in banning the violators. We never see that happening. We see the MPs catching the bots, but we don’t see them disappearing at all. You have the list of those violators, now please do something about it.


  10. About sa homunculus bug. I think na laman ko na kung bakit na bbug ung mga homunculus. We experienced it 3 times already. Kaya mejo sanay na. Once naka rest yung homunculus mo (the only thing na mapalabas sya is to use Call Homunculus skill) then nag Homunculus Resu ka may chance na makuha mo ung ibang homunculus na dead na malapit sayo. So ang mang yayari mag hahalo ung nakuha mo and yung sayo. So Skills ng pet mo + stats ng nakuhamong homunculus.
    Well theory lang to ah. kasi naalala ko kaya kami na bbug pag resu kami ng resu.

    - afaik midgard police only get evidence the the suspect is a 100% bot then they’ll going to forward the evidence to their direct contact of GM/CSR

  13. awtz,,, third party program pa rin ang bot… uu maganda ang police NPC in that way maregulate mga botters… about sa case ng mga vendors eh di exception ang mga nakavend problema ba dun… siguro naman ok lang magbot vend kasi harmless… benta mode lang naman…
    the thing is bakit kasi natatakot mga LU pag ala na population… eh di at least legal naman ang game nila if ever… kesa naman matawagan kang bakla… uu BAKLA na nga mga taga LU… ni wala magawa sa mga BOTZ peste…

    MP is not that successful and worst the population of botters are rapidly increasing
    that leads to some Thorians to move on.

    I think there are favoritism involved since
    the culprits are still on the loose and they
    didn’t bother at all cause only their harvesters
    are involved in botting even it were banned it
    won’t stop them on creating new accounts and
    start all over again.

    For example botter A has one main account and
    three harvester accounts I label X, Y, and Z
    MP caught X and Y definitely those accounts
    get banned. botter A stop botting Z for the
    meantime to cooldown but already gained a lot
    from X and Y of proportions it harvested.
    In the end botter A’s main account which never
    been involved in botting is there any chance that it would be banned, from the months have
    passed it never occured that a account which
    never experienced botting get banned. So in the
    end run, it just benefited up to this point.

    Another example, multiple number of accounts of
    harvester novices dropping harvest guard[1] cards and etc which is picked up by a main account in some rural area. So MP has the
    capability on banning the harvester novices
    it doesn’t matter to the culprit cause it’s only 5hrs below only each. And he/she won’t
    be affected since his/her account never did
    bot. So in the end run, it only gain a lot
    without being banned.

    Another example, during the commotions of
    duped problem April-June of 2007 and after the rollback which
    happened during March of 2007. Several players
    use their main account during that time for
    botting, I doubt there’s a way for MP to check
    the past to get them banned. By this time they
    no longer use their accounts for botting since
    they already at 99 or achieved what they want
    at this point. So, where’s the justice now then? Even if MP caught the bot’s now several
    of those botters already have benefited and
    won’t be caught anymore.

    I think the duplicate equips/cards and also
    consumable items are not yet been eradicated in this server. That’s a fact.

    Goodluck in solving the problem escalating in
    Thor, I hope you guys would be succesful in
    reviving Thor.

    It’s easy for the botters to pm back at you
    using the automessage system.
    AFK vendors would be affected by this NPC.
    Let’s face it that the Bot Vending are not
    that threat although it’s still bot but hopefully there would be a way to caught and
    banned them.


  16. @Wauks currently MP is next to useless, wala cla magawa eh, they could only report botters pero gnagawa na po eto ng mga Thor players

    10 MP is fine and if they have temp ban powers hihinto na yang botting or kahit papaano mababawasan, lalo na ung mga may account din s bot servers na pumunta sa Thor para manggulo lang, meron na cla 6 bot servers pati sa Thor sumisingit pa /pif

    Give them temp ban powers, ung pede cla magban kahit 1 week lang then GM na mag perma ban para nde po cla useless

  18. It’s nice to know na merong MP. Unfotunately di sila maramdaman! Dapat na po-post ang mga nagagawa nila, ang mga botters na naba-ban. Lalo na Thor, madaming botters sa Turtle island, sa payon cave, etc.

    What you people need is a big-time boot camp. Mga pasaway kayo (you know who you are), tapos kapag itinuwid kayo pa galit.

    I have no regrets about that. Kung ayaw mong tawagin kang ganyan, magpakatino ka.

    2lad sa private server may MP sila nag shift

    meron sa umaga meron sa gabi palitan sila

    tapos meron silang banning ability

    un ung aus sa police nila at ung mga naka pub

    sa jail d ka na palalabasin

    sir im sorry at parang laging OT comments ko. but its really bugging me that up until now wala paring any sort of update about the RPC WILDCARDS, except for the announcement weeks ago in this blog that there will indeed be an RPC wildcard event.

    itutuloy pa po ba? if so when ang most probable starting date? next week po ba? next month? o talgang scrap na?

    kahit ballpark figure lang po sana sir. para naman po hindi kami maghintay sa wala.

  37. @26 - hay… yah kya nga me exception, dapat allow botz pero mga vendz na lng… pero at least hindi naman totally cheating mga un. kasi kung vend din lang naman tayo without bot eh AFK pa rin kalalabasan natin… un nga lang mas mababa memory at CPU load pag bot ang gamit… so nakakagawa pa rin tayo ng ibang bagay…

  44. Midgard Police should be able to enforce laws and regulations. In essence they shouldnt be just “eyes and ears”. They have no banning powers thats the problem.

    LU should give them that. And if the choose to abuse it their power. Their personal identities “and” accounts are accountable.

    So discipline the midgard police then theyl discipline the players.
