First and foremost, I’d like to wish all the guilds who will be starting their bids for the RWC Agit Lord slots tonight! Vanguards will be online tonight getting fraps because we’ll eventually make a video similar to the Sakray Method materials. We’re also starting the RWC Wild Card, and I’d like to wish all the nominees good luck as well. If you guys can’t process your vote, give it a few minutes because it’s probably due to site traffic. Anyway, on to the more pressing topic – the dupe resolution.
The good news is that we’ve actually implemented the anti-dupe system already. This was installed a few weeks ago and we’ve confirmed that it works with various contacts. If ever people try to dupe during maintenance, there’s a 1% chance that it will push through, and a 99% chance that they’ll lose the item. Hopefully by next week this will be 100% in favor of losing their stuff. However, this is just a measure that we’ve implemented here at LU, and we’re still asking Gravity to come up with a more permanent solution that won’t drain manpower during maintenance.
The second good news is that Gravity has agreed to develop a tool that will trace the original sources of the duplicated items. That means that we will be able to sanction people who abused this bug from the very start. The tool can also trace how the item travelled so there’s a paper trail. The problem is that the tool will take some time to develop, so we really need other policies implemented soon.
The question now is will we delete duplicated items from the server? The answer is a resounding YES, but on a case-to-case basis. We will not just run the original script which will indiscriminately delete everything. We will check trade logs and inventory histories to make sure that players who legally traded or bought items like this will either be compensated accordingly with zenny or the item will no longer be deleted (depends on the nature of the item). This will be a long process, and it will not just happen in one day. This, we believe, is the best course of action that will strike a balance between game integrity and protection of innocent players.
So what now? We will now be entertaining reports filed through the CS tickets and the CS calls. If you have suspects, you can easily submit their character name, server, and if possible, attach screenshots as well. The GM Team will investigate and we can assure everyone that if anyone is caught guilty, they will be sanctioned accordingly. I strongly advise everyone to refrain from buying high value items at the moment because we will start purging items tomorrow and it will last for at least 1 month. If you really need to buy items, make sure to take screenshots before and after so that you have evidence of a fair trade.
Level-up will release an official statement about this tomorrow through the official Ragnarok Online website. Lastly, I would just like to air out a warning to people who exploited this bug – your days are numbered.

Added thought: how will LU be able to determine which is a fraud trade and a genuine scam? What they plan to do now would probably benefit serious “hackers”/botters who duplicated the items, and made it look as if they’re the victims. If I recall, in real life, scams take QUITE awhile before they’re exposed and brought to justice…
It’s not like losing a character means much to them; after all, what’s one compared to dozens of the exact same build and equipment (hidden at the background of his PC)?

Exactly, now I doubt after a month if they can get rid of
the duplicated gold, elu, oca, obb, ovb, ori and other consumables
stackable. Even cards obtained from duplicated OCA, and items
obtained from dup ovb ,dup obb are not possible to be deleted too.
I think after 1 month, they probably just eliminate equip duplicated
items and not sure if it’s completely wipeout.

Kahit wag na idelete lahat ng duped items. Naaasar lang ako dun sa mga nagdupe ng Godly Items eh. Inde naman ata kapanipaniwala na may isang guild ng biochems na no-cast ang AB nila di ba at ang buffs nila na nakikita ko ay Bless lang dahil pari lang ang kaparty nila. At kahit gumamit sila ng food item ay inde aabot ng 150 dex nila. Actually umalis sila sa Guild nila para inde siguro madamay pero yun nga point ko dito eh delete DUPED GODLY ITEMS. Baka next week lang eh kumalat na yung mga WS & Biochems na may Mjolnir 2x Mejingard Combo. :sux: Kung ano yung Guild na yun? Hehehe alam na ng LU! yun dahil nasa database naman nila.

Wonder why there are dupped items before merged? But the dupped
escalated this high to be notice and discuss by players as well the LUG
after the merged.
dupped started all over again around March 2007. Remaining dupped
items that doesn’t removed during the item dupped wipeout
during Nov 8,2006 is still around along with the March dupped items.
Well, just wait for a month like Wauks said for completion of removing
the dupped items every maintenance ( takes 4 maintenance as he
mentioned above).
But looking back at Yralyn’s post. I don’t know if it would be successful
after a month.

October 2006 and a good example is Thor server. I think it’s got
something to do with the weekend mod exp and such.

The integrity of the game has been desimated, abused, loosing its value due to the bug of the game, LUG has come up with a probable solution on which upon duplicating occur by a player they will lose the item at a 99% chance. THAT’s good. But these are only words that they have given to us, and not much action. simply because there are dupers and players who does’nt beleive in LUG anymore. The dupers who abuse to make profit not only in game, but also in money PHP in terms.
LUG is willing to eliminate the dupe items from th dupers but also the legal players. these are REAL question from us legal players, and also eliminating our bought items and giving us compensation on zennies will give us satisfaction?
This problem escalated to most severe and highest degree of problem cases than all other cases in ragnarok online. This issue will not occur if LUG will just simply

It’s possible that the pictures were taken from a computer whose internal clock doesn’t save the current date/time (screwed-up motherboard). As for duplicate Valkyrie set items, I think that’s something completely different.

The logic behind the “dupe bug resolution” of LU is that each dupe case would be analyzed and then taken care of on an individual basis; some items would be deleted, some would be given compensation, while some won’t be deleted at all. For me that’s total bullsh*t not because of the purpose (it’s supposedly for the benefit of the buyers/players), but because of the time frame and the capabilities of LU. I mean, are they running RO with a dozen trained monkeys? Because frankly I think monkeys even do a better job than the IT team, considering the constant server crashes, the inability to prevent this from even happening before it started, the consistent extension of server maintenance, the bottability of the “anti-bot” server, etc. etc. etc.
And as I said earlier, smart dupers can deal with themselves, probably make it look like they’re also victims of dupes, then get compensation for it. And even if they get to ban the accounts of the dupers, they still have the PHP from RMT… you can’t wipe *that* out, y’know…
