Never have I imagined that something like this would happen in the Philippines. I was surprised to read today’s headline on the Inquirer. Apparently, former President Aquino decided to make a public and personal apology to former President Erap Estrada regarding EDSA II. President Aquino stated that EDSA II was a mistake, and that she was asking for forgiveness from President Estrada. Watch the video below for President Aquino’s exact words.
Take the jump as well to watch former President Estrada’s response to Cory’s apology.
My Thoughts
EDSA II might have been a mistake but it was still a powerful movement against corruption and immorality here in the Philippines. I have a gut feeling that it was still an orchestrated political move led by then Vice-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her allies which eventually led her getting to the highest position in the land without having to spend a single centavo on elections. This might be the reason why Cory is apologizing, because she knows what really happened – something that only the public can speculate at this point.
However, her apology will definitely leave a bitter taste on the mouth of her supporters who still believe that EDSA II was a legitimate and truthful expression of democracy. What about you guys? What do you think?

Cory is very religious and I perhaps she believes in karma. What’s her illness again.
No offense, I like her but it was really a wrong move, for me that is.

joke lang daw yung pahayag ni Cory according to her spokesman and her son Noynoy
ang labo nila >.<

She’s still naive after all these years. She supported a movement subverting her own Constitution by ousting Estrada. Now she apologizes? Too late for that Cory. Your legacy has been a disaster.

I think Gloria predicted that Erap is an unfit president and will surely be removed from his seat that is why she ran for vice presidency under him. It is something that is obvious from the start actually just like how Loren Legard ran under FPJ because if we assume that FPJ did win surely he will also be removed from his position.
Let’s face it corrupt or not our Current president may be the best president our country could ask for right now. She may be corrupt but she is still doing her job properly much unlike Erap (lol at all out war against Abu-Sayaff and economic downfall erap bought upon us)

And I would also like to state that cory is one of the top 3 worst president’s of the Philippines if not top 1 – just check out the things she did to our country.. she basically killed of what little political and economic strength our country had back then which went almost unnoticed because of her husbands charisma.
minyong on December 23, 2008
I agree with Xiphias but Gloria is not the one who’s corrupted. It’s mainly her husband. They’ve probably separated along time pero alam mo naman sa atin very conservative. Hindi yun maganda sa image ng first family. BTW, if you look at her track record her job is mainly focused on economics. I’m pretty positive that she can give the kick start to our economy. The effects may not be felt instantly but we’re getting there. Slow and steady like the turtle who raced with the rabbit.

Cory will surely lose some of her supporters. EDSA 2 is a historical event in the country, as it was able to achieve its purpose.
Still, only points out to our President GMA.
I am just a student, but i can say, our economy is better than America right now so if she did any mistake, why not let her finish her term.
Dean on December 24, 2008
I coudn’t agree more with Xiphias.
What is this “why not let her finish her term” ???
Then let me ask, “why didn’t they let Erap finish his term”?
Surely, no one knows results until they are finished.

IMO? well, lets just see what happens next. I’m just hoping that there would be no more (and i repeat, NO MORE) corruption!…if there would be corruption on the GMA administration, it would start with her (because of cheating her way to the extended term of hers), her husband (its already obvious what this guy did) and all the power hungry dirty politicians…no offense, I’m just expressing what i want to voice out.
