Apple Launches iPod Touch & New Product Line
Did you buy an iPod anytime within the past few weeks? If you did, then it was pretty much a waste of money because Apple just released a new line of IPODs! The old line - yes I’m talking about the Shuffle, Mini, Nano, and even the Video have all been replaced with thinner and better counterparts. According to Abe’s post on Yugatech, the new iPods now have longer battery life, bigger storage space, and Wifi. When these gadgets hit the Philippine market, I’m pretty sure that they will sell like hotcakes. It’s amazing what good marketing and branding can do. Here’s a picture of the IPODs.

More details about the new iPods after the jump.
They retained the small iPod Shuffle and didn’t change it anymore. However, they’re phasing out the old iPod Shuffle and iPod Mini. They also rebranded the iPod Video and they’re now calling it the iPod Classic. It really looks like Apple is pushing iPods that have video playback options. For pictures, you can just refer to the product line picture I posted above. However, there are two new iPods that they released. They upgraded the iPod Nano and they’ve unveiled the iPod Touch.
iPod NANO
The new iPod Nano is definitely a bit fatter than the old slim one. There’s an option for a 4GB or 8GB storage capacity and it can now obviously play videos. The screen is 2-inch 320 x 240 pixel screen. According to Abe, there’s even an option to play iPod games. One can only wonder what those games are. Honestly though I don’t like the new iPod Nano because it looks so bulky that it defeats the purpose of being a Nano.
iPod TOUCH
The iPod Touch is designed like the iPhone. It’s 8mm thick, 480 x 320 pixel 3.5″ touch screen, Safari browser, Coverflow, Wifi, and 8GB/16GB storage capacity. Because of this particular gadget, one will have to think if you still need an iPhone. Personally, I still prefer the iPhone since I just want to carry one gadget with me instead of bringing a dozen. Here are some pictures of the new iPod Touch, courtesy of PTB.

Thanks to Abe for the updates! Feel free to check out his site for more information on the new iPod series.

hmm.. interesting.. muntik na nga ako bumili ng ipod nano 30gb that’s worth $249.99..how much is the price range for the iPod touch? lol..
September 6th, 2007 at 4:58 pm
299.99USD ata yung touch. It has the same price as the Iphone (after cut offs from the Iphone’s prize and without the damn AT&T service)so mas ok yung IPhone kaysa sa touch lang kse 18GB max lang ang mailalagay mo. With a video player we all knoe na sobrang liit nung 30GB na IPOD paano pa kaya yung 18GB lang. Wait muna tayo ng mas malaking Touch capacity para ok na ok na ang touch.

I’m wondering though how much it will retail here in the Philippines come 2008. Also I’m already tempted into buying a N95 (the black one). Haaayz. Kaya hindi ako nakakaipon eh! XD

The iPod Touch and iPhone have the same applications and runs the same Operating System, they just didn’t include the mail, weather, and anything that is included in the iPhone
