Last December, I bought a Samsung U700 for my girlfriend. I ended up buying another unit for myself since I really loved the slender and sleek design of the phone. In fact, I didn’t even bother checking all the reviews about the unit first before buying it. I should really change that or else I’ll end up with 0 savings in the future, lol. Anyway, I’d like to do a quick review about the Samsung U700. If you’re thinking of buying one, better read this article first.

The Samsung U700 retails for around 15,000-16,000 if you’re going to buy it at the official Samsung store. If you go to Greenhills or any other “smuggled” mobile phone vendors, you can probably get one for as low as 11,500. When I bought the two units last December, each one cost around 13,000 – 14,000. I’ve listed the pros of the phone above, now let’s get to the negative aspects.

    Display Panel
Yes, it really increases your pogi points score, but it smudges very easily. The moment you put your fingers on it, you’ll see an impression immediately on the screen which can get annoying since you have to keep on wiping it from time to time. But if you don’t mind cleaning up every few hours, then that shouldn’t be a big problem. Note that if you don’t keep the phone in a good bag or case, you’ll probably end up scratching it.

    Hang Problems
Sadly this is the most irritating part. The Samsung U700 hangs from time to time when you’re picking someone from your phonebook to send your message to. If Samsung is able to fix this in future versions then that would be fantastic. I was actually a bit disappointed after this happened to me twice in one day (who wouldn’t be?).

Over-all the Samsung U700 is okay. It’s not that great due to the critical nature of the Hang Problem. The design is really marvelous and I can’t wait for Samsung to release the G800. Hopefully that one won’t have as much problems as the U700. I don’t recommend this phone if you’re looking for a more tech-savvy gadget. This is really more for people who are more concerned about the style and design versus the functionality.

I’m actually about to buy this. It’s good that I’ve read this review. I do agree it isn’t that tech-savvy but I feel that it fits my needs. So I’ll continue to buy one.
