Full Metal Alchemist Manga 102 was released last week and it had three major plot twists involving Roy Mustang, Scar, Wrath, and Alphonse. For those who don’t want to read spoilers, please don’t bother reading the complete post especially if you’re the type that just watches the anime but doesn’t read the manga. In the previous episodes the battle between the forces of the homunculus and the Elrics have escalated into a full scale war. The first homunculus, also known as the “father” is now in the final stages of his plan. He’s gathering 5 major “sacrifices” for something big and he already has the four in his realm – Izumi, Edward, Homenheim, and the empty armor of Alphonse. The last missing person needed is Roy Mustang.

Back in the real world, Roy is pinned down by the combined forces of Pride and Wrath. The gate is open and he’s sent through it. He meets the rest of the 4 sacrifices together with the master homunculus. At first everyone thought that he didn’t lose anything since he still had complete limbs but apparently he lost something that’s even more terrifying.

Roy Mustang Blind?

Roy Mustang is blind! This will be very troublesome for him especially in battle since he needs to aim his flames. That’s just the least of his problems though. We still have no idea what the original Homunculus is planning with this sacrifice.

Another major development is the final battle of Wrath. It looks like his last opponent will be the legendary Ishabalan, Scar. The two are evenly matched in their fight but this is only because Wrath has already taken a major beating from the army and Greed in his earlier skirmish.

And last but not the least we see Alphonse’s soul finally meet his body. Inside the gate, the armored version of Alphonse discovers his frail and thin body. However, he decides not to return yet because he knows that if he materializes in the real world using that body, he won’t be of any use to his comrades against the original homunculus. He makes the biggest sacrifice of all be deciding not to merge with his body and goes back into the real world in the armor suit.

I am really loving how the story of Full Metal Alchemist is panning out. I’m excited to see what the original homunculus is planning and what this big sacrifice is all about. It will probably be related to the gigantic transmutation symbol that Sloth has made. Maybe the biggest Philosopher’s stone ever made? Who knows, hahaha. Can’t wait for Full Metal Alchemist Manga 103!
