I just finished watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood Episode 6 and I have to say that this was the lightest but still one of the more meaningful episodes that they’ve done so far. In the past few episodes, they’ve been doing a mix of action, drama, and comedy to keep the viewers at the edge of their seats. For episode 6, they really focused more on character development and it’s a good set-up for the next few episodes of Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. Review after the break.
Full Metal Alchemist Episode 6 Review and Synopsis
The episode starts with Ed, Major Armstrong, and Al on the train to their home town, Resembool, so they can have their bodies fixed. Without his other arm, Ed can’t do alchemy to transmute Al’s armor body. The only person who Ed trusts with his automail requirements is his childhood friend, Winry.
On their way to Resembool, they make a short stop in one of the small towns in the countryside. Major Armstrong recognizes one man who gets off the train – Doctor Marcoh. Armstrong and the Elric brothers decide to get off the train first to look for Marcoh after Armstrong mentions that Marcoh used to do transmutations on living organisms. They are able to find his house quite easily because apparently Marcoh is famous with the locals for helping them with their medical problems. The group eventually finds Doctor Marcoh.
Marcoh reveals that he worked on the Philosopher’s Stone project during the Ishbal War. He event shares with Ed that he has an imperfect version with him at that very moment. Ed argues that he should be shown the research data that Marcoh has and even explains why he needs it so that he could bring back his arm, leg, and Al’s body. However, Marcoh refuses and asks them to leave him in peace. He eventually changes his mind later on giving Edward instructions that he’ll be able to find what he’s looking for in the main library at Central City. After getting that tip, the group gets on board the train once again to Resembool to get their bodies fixed so they can go to Central to find the research data Marcoh talked about.
In Resembool, we get a deeper understanding of the story of the two brothers and their humble beginnings. We’re introduced to Winry and her Grandma, both of whom gave their full support to the Elric brothers while they were growing up after their mom died. By the way, is it just me or is Winry hotter now compared to the old FMA series?
Winry and her Grandma work on the automail for 3 days non-stop. They attach Ed’s new arm and leg and he’s able to transmute Al so he can get his full armored body back. They take 1 more night to rest and start their journey back to Central the next day.
Personally, I loved this episode. You can consider it a bit light since there’s no combat or drama, but it was very entertaining. There were a lot of moments that I found myself really laughing out loud. The most memorable was when Armstrong gave Ed a hug after hearing the story of the two brothers burning their own house down. Man, that was really funny stuff! Anyway, I can’t wait to watch Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood Episode 7! Based on the preview, it looks like Ed will be finding out a lot of stuff about the Philosopher’s Stone – which will eventually lead to the confrontation with the Homunculus.

Winry will play a bigger part in the story if the writers stay true to the manga.

bakit parang the same yung mga episodes sa FIRST FMA (ung “51″ episodes) sa FMA brotherhood?? First time ko kasi nag watch nitong anime. Yung 17th episode nang first FMA pareho lang sa 6th episode nang FMA brotherhood. Bakit ganun???

because the story in the manga which brotherhood will follow only change from the original FMA anime after they meet Greed.
