    Killing Flemeth and the High Dragon are two optional but rather very hard side quests that you can take on in the middle part of the game. It took me two tries but I was able to bring down Flemeth at level 10. The High Dragon in the Sacred Ashes Arc died the first time I encountered it at around level 12-13. I just wanted to share some tips with everyone on how I did it.

    FLEMETH STRATEGY
    I wanted to kill Flemeth as soon as I could because of the robes that she would give for Morrigan. It’s the best robe for her in the game. Anyway, here’s my party set-up. Unfortunately I couldn’t bring in Morrigan but I did have Zev on the line-up to make up for the DPS.

    PC Character: DPS Mage
    Wynne – Healer
    Alistair – Tank
    Zevran – DPS Rouge

    Flemeth does two really annoying attacks – her fireball which also places a DOT on you and her physical raw damage. I had Alistar tank the huge dragon and I just spammed all the damage spells that I had on Flemeth. Most of the work for this fight will really be on survival. You need to time the heals properly. My primary healer here was obviously Wynne, but I also used my main PC character to throw some heals every time Wynne’s skills were still on cool down. Here are some quick tips on how I used Wynne in the encounter:

    - Heroic Defense on Alistair
    - Group Heal after getting hit by fireballs
    - Revive dead characters (I was actually able to use this, haha. Zev keeps on dying)
    - Regeneration always on Alistair

    My initial try was massacre. The fire damage was just too brutal. For my second try I decided to bring tons more of healing potions (around 30+) and I even brought fire resist salves. For some reason, Flemeth just loves to breathe fireballs on my main character. So what I did was I scattered the party, put on fire resist gear for my main, and had him take all the fireballs. This gave Alistair, Zev, and Wynne a lot of breathing room. It took time but eventually I was able to take Flemeth down. The fight ended with just two characters in my party standing – Wynne and my main PC mage (lol).

    HIGH DRAGON STRATEGY
    You have the option of not fighting the High Dragon when you’re doing the Sacred Ashes quest. Just don’t hit the gong. However, if you do, prepare for one insane battle. Since I had good experience in dealing with Flemeth, I used my old strat except that I replaced Zev with Morrigan (Yay).

    For the High Dragon Strat, it was the same. Alistair tanks the melee damage and my main PC mage character took on the fireballs. It was much easier this time though because other than Wynne, I had two mages who also had heals. Combine that with the healing potions and you’ll be able to survive this fight. I got it in one try and not one character died in the encounter.

    Beware of the following things though:

    - Dragon will eat Alistair and trash him around. Throw him HEALS. The damage is horrendous. Make sure you have Life Ward, Heroic Defense, and Regeneration on him at all times.
    - Dragon leaps up into the air: SCATTER or he’ll land on you. Lol.
    - Fire resist gear would be good for whoever is tanking the fireballs.

    And that’s that. Good luck! Both of these dragons give really good loot so make it a point to take them down as soon as you can.

      Thanks for posting, that is a nice guide indeed.

      I have come up with a way to kill Flemeth quite easily. Note: you need a HUGE amount of healing potions.
      I used:

      - main character (rogue) and;
      - Alistair.

      I positioned them:
      - near the area exit;
      - far apart from one-another.

      The battle:
      - Just use bows to damage her;
      - may take a loooong time;
      - Flemeth will only use fireballs, wich will damage only one character (because you placed them far apart from eachother.)
      - Flemeth will pull a char towards her every once in a while, just run back to the area exit and fire again.

      That should do the trick! =)

      I killed the high dragon just last night, but I was a much higher level. I had a melee rogue and sten in dragonslayer mode (dragonslayer sword and the blood dragon armor) Wynne, and Morrigan.

      It’s important that you don’t keep the casters near each other, and time cone of cold/petrification just before a big attack, since that would usually cancel it.

      Took me a few few tries when wynne dropped dead, but otherwise it wasn’t too hard because I significantly higher levels.

      @Neoskeptic and Dennis: Thanks for sharing your tips. I’ll edit the post and include your strats for everyone’s benefit.

      Cheers!

      On hard with no decent ranged dps (due to morrigan not beeing able to join and that bard carebear leaving after I defiled the ashes) Flemeth really is a pain :)

      My party was level 13 when i killed High Dragon. I found a way to make ALL HER STOMPS MISS. Just stand your party members close to somewhere impassible, such as a those lumps on the ground. She will fly up and stomp down on a plain field, since she cant stomp on you because you are near an impassable terrain.

      1: spread your party members next to small lumps on the ground
      2: call High Dragon with the horn
      3: begin range attack
      4: if High Dragon casts fireball/dragon breath, move the character to another lump on the ground, and have healer heal him.

      Ang complex naman ng tactics niyo. Beating Flemeth is so simple.

      Just equip bows/ranged weapons on all your characters except Wynne, Flemeth will never leave her spot.

      Just keep your characters spaced out so her flame bomb will only hit one char at a time. And when she sucks up one character, just run away and shoot her again from the distance, rinse repeat.

      You don’t need to melee her up. It will take a few minutes she will die eventually. Easy.

      Killing High Dragon and Flemeth is easy. Just bring a healer in your party and position it far from the enemy. Make sure that your party members have enough HP to survive the enemy’s attack so that they don’t die instantly and you have an allowance to heal them.

    • Cheap on November 30, 2009

      Cheapest and easiest way to win:

      You need: a mage with forcefield
      2 more ranged characters
      1 character to act as bait (he doesn’t require high armor or hp)

      All you have to do is position your blocker next to Flemeth and cast forcefield on him. Flemeth (or the High Dragon, the Revenants or pretty much any other lone boss in the game) will only attack the shielded character. Proceed to kill Flemeth (or the other boss in question) at range, recast forcefield if necessary (cooldown and duration are the same). You will likely not even need potions (maybe cast rejuvenation with another mage or just save mana for conitued forcefields).

      a quick way is to stack tons of traps on the clearing she goes to. If done right, when she walks over and turns into a dragon she dies pretty much straight away :)

      I tried the same tactics when I faced Flemeth, but I still got slaughtered. You missed a key tip: bring the Drake scales to Wade in Denerrim and have him craft an armor for you. That way, you get a lot of fire resistance (at least 20% I think).

      I assigned the Drake armor to Alistair, which served as my tank as well. That way, I got to keep the aggro away from my healer and DPS characters.

      To kill the dragons its really easy

      I found an ultimate trick, here it’s

      Prepare. Mage with a really low range attack. I used wynne.
      And then us the mabari to attack.
      The dragons don’t seem to worry much about the mabari, and nore the low attacks that the mage does, so u end up killing the dragons without even making the dragon move, that’s right he stays still.
      I found the trick by luck , was actually funny.

      I havn’t been able to kill Flemeth yet, but I do have a tip for you all. Try to get 100% fire resistance. with it her fireballs just knock you down and do 1 or 2 damage. I got the 100% by the Superior Drake Scale Armor and various accesories.

      Also I’m a level 17 rouge that killed Wynee and doesnt have xbox live so I cant get Shale either. I also dont’ understand how to make my team do what i want them to like the ways above described. Any tips that are tailored to my situation would be amazing.
