Chinese Teen “Fireballs” Classmate, blames World of Warcraft
First, it was an epic mount in World of Warcraft being traded for sex. If you thought that was crazy, hear this one out. A chinese 17 year old kid lost to his classmate in a fist fight. Apparently, this kid was a World of Warcraft player and he was really addicted to the game to the point that he could no longer distinguish reality from fantasy. A few days after he lost to his classmate, he goes up to the guy and pours gasoline all over him. What happens next?
FIREBALL!
Thinking that he was his WoW character, the kid lights up a match and sets his classmate on fire! More details after the jump.

A 17 year old Beijing boy had a fight with a classmate and lost. He took revenge a few days later by dumping a water bottle full of gasoline onto the classmate and lighting him on fire. The victim ended up with burns on 55% of his body, including third-degree burns on 38% of his body.
The perpetrator claimed he had lost himself in World of Warcraft and when he committed the crime he had transformed into a Fire Mage.
He was sentenced to 8 years in jail, an accomplice received 7 years, and he and the accomplice and their families were ordered to pay 760,000 RMB in restitution to the victim.
When the reporter asked why he did it, the boy claimed he had lost himself in World of Warcraft and when he committed the crime he had transformed into a Fire Mage.
If this isn’t insane, then I don’t know what is.

What the hell!!! MMORPG was a bad influnece to that kid.
Hmm, I’ve also heard of chixilogs getting banned in China. If you make a female character in a certain game you are required to do a cam-to-cam to prove that the owner is also a female like her character.

Not much of a surprise… Also in China a child comitted suicide to “join” his heroes in the world of warcraft. This is the reason why in China there is an hour break time from playing online games after 2 hours or so. That the government has issued and is being implemented in all MMORPG in china.

Well, that clearly shows that it’s not only in Korea where people are addicted to PC games. I wonder if the Philippines will have the same event, too.

Meron rin sa pinas. Tungkol sa isang nang-saksak dahil sa “Grand Tip Bag” hinack o ninakaw sa kanya. Kung may taong delusyonado meron rin taong masyadong sentimental kahit in-game item lang ang nawala (baka nag PHP)… Nasa inquirer.net ata yong balitang yon.
