China Company Bans Chiksilogs in their MMORPGs

Aurora Technology, subsidiary of Shanda Entertainment, recently announced that they will be banning male players who are playing female characters in their online game - King of the World. However, female players using male characters in-game will not be suspended. OMFG what kind of crazy shit is this? According to the article in MMOSITE, the company will require players that want to play females that they are girls by showing themselves via webcam. Imagine if we were to implement this locally at Level-up Games? I’m sure that we will be opening the gates of hell seeing as a lot of players here really like to play Chiksilogs, hehe.

Here’s the direct quote from the article posted at MMOSITE:

Shanda Entertainment, one of heavy hitters in the gaming industry in China, announced that their subsidiary, Aurora Technology, has frozen accounts of male players who have elected to play as female characters in the King of the World MMORPG. However, there are no bans on women playing male characters.

Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA) subsidiary Aurora Technology has frozen game accounts of male players who chose to play female in-game characters in its in-house developed MMORPG King of the World, reports 17173. Aurora stipulates that only female gamers can play female characters in the game, and it requires gamers who chose female characters to prove their biological sex with a webcam, according to the report.

How exactly is this all going to work? Why Aurora frozen accounts of male players who chose to play female in-game characters? Was this action driven by concerns related to players engaging in cybersex and a cultural issue related to (male) homosexual cybersex? Who konws. lol.

Come on! This is just really insane if you ask me. Not only is it one sided against men, the mere fact that you will require all the girls to show themselves to you via webcam to prove their gender is just beyond comprehension. I cannot get the logic and rationale behind this new policy. Maybe one of the executives of Shanda fell in love with a girl in-game only to find out that she was actually a he when they had an EB?

I don’t see this happening in the local gaming industry. But then again - maybe some power crazed politician will suddenly decide to make this law someday here in the Philippines.

stupid implementation~ it’s a choice of character naman not sexuality~ like in ragnarok i prefer female wizards rather than males thats why i created a female account, as a professor though i like a male sprite~

  2. Wauks Says:

I agree with you 110% Prof. Not only that - why are they limiting it to males using female avatars? Sobrang labo.

  3. hellboy Says:

kung sa ragnarok ma apply yan. baka kumonti lng ang gypsy na build kasi bawal na chikisilog. wala na spammer ng scream during siege. at kokonti nlng ung mgrokis. hehehe. mas cute kasi tignan ung my female avatar eh. hehehe

  4. synty Says:

lol sexist pigs. wauks i agree with you hypothesis.. he could have fell inlove with a chixilog and got all bitter lolol

  5. Boky Says:

LOL I’ll just put my GF in front of the webcam hehe

  6. hmm Says:

  8. Noa Says:

Can they really do that, it’s like when that happens and a lot of players got banned from the game, they might loose a lot of customers as an effect.
    omg

  9. ArchieNov Says:

I wouldn’t mind it much if they implemented that type of system here. It’s kinda cool actually :P

  10. Castigador Says:

Sexism much? I really don’t see what good this can do.

  11. Reti Says:

Its China…they can afford to lose players with the number of population they have. XD

  12. Noa Says:

You do have a point there heh

  13. Romell Says:

  14. kulugo Says:

they can very well do this in Korea RO2 since you need to use your security number (like our SSS) to create an account right? that would trully give more “advantage” to girl gamers hehe since wala na chixi…

  15. Fred-ster Says:

  17. Whistler Says:

i dont see anything wrong with playing an avatar of the opposite gender…

hellboy has a good point -> lalake ako pero ayaw ko mag bard… saka mas prefered ko skills ng dancer… so mas lugi kami since pwede gamitin ng babae lalakeng gender and not teh other way around…

“Its China…they can afford to lose players with the number of population they have.” _> a lolz point

besides as a legendary quote goes “there are no women on the interweb” (no offense to the female gamres out there y^^,)

  18. Tataczab Says:

Brainless, stupid, pathetic and illogical implementation. What if a player puts other girl in the webcam instead. And how can that company possibly know if its a fake btw? They cant.

  19. Lynxx Says:

    Ayus naman yun diba ah….

    “Ate pa heal pow!!”

“SINO TINATAWAG MO NA ATE?? DI MO BA NAKITA ANG MACHO KO!!”

    “Naku, maskuladong chiksilog.. hahahahah”

  20. jherskie Says:

personally, i won’t play an MMORPG that imposes such regulations. i don’t wanna tire myself of thinking why they’d wanna see the female player in real life just to let her create a female character. pretty pointless - perverted to an extent. what will they do with the screen caps/shots of the female players after validating their identity? it makes me shudder thinking that the latest stars of pr0n flicks is the girl playing beside me in a PC shop - and she doesn’t even know it. much worse if the girl in question is a friend, or a relative even.

  21. mj12 Says:

girl? = chicksilog then boy? = what???

  22. Croix Says:

  23. ~*Epiphany*~ Says:

    boy = lalalog

wahaha.,., yan sbi ng frend q pg male character gnawa q xP

At least girls are free. yey!

  24. Woobie Says:

If this happens here, I’ll be offering my help to each and everyone of my friends and guildmates who need a girl to show to LU! In the end, isa lang itong malaking lokohan. I bet it will be fun scamming lonely guys in game again because of the false “assurance” that those playing girl chars are really girls. LOL.

  25. phenomenal Says:

pano kung gay tapos mukhang girl ? wahahaha

  26. ponstan Says:

  27. Enderson Says:

Well, they could do what South Korea does instead, and ask players for their Social Security Numbers. orz

  28. Raven Says:

ROFL. It’s an RPG Game, so it’s totally their choice if they want to play a male of female character.

  29. neesha Says:

girl? = chicksilog then boy? = what???

    STRAWBERRY EGGS. hehe.
