Ragnarok Gamer Interview: Cohen
If you guys were playing way back in Beta, you’d probably know this guy. He popularized the Blacksmith Piont and eventually turned the vending area near the gift merchant into the Cohen Piont. Known for being a smooth talker and chick magnet, Cohen embodied the social aspect of Ragnarok Online. I was very lucky to have him in my guild, and up to this day he remains a close friend and buddy. I just found out that Cohen is actually now part of MAGIC 89.9, and I thought of having more Gamer Interviews with players who are making it big in their respective careers. Expect more gamer success stories to come. Anyway, on to Cohen’s interview!

Yes, he looks like an RO Novice with red hair.
Wauks (W): Thanks for accepting my invitation for an interview man. Let’s get started! Tell us about yourself. What are you up to these days?
Cohen (C): Right now I’m a DJ-in-training for Magic 89.9, still under probation so hopefully I dont curse on air and get myself fired before I become a real honest-to-goodness DJ, haha! I’m also an Arts Management student in the DLS - College of St. Benilde. You can’t miss me, I’m the dude with the red hair who looks like the Ragnarok Online Novice.
W: Yes, I agree, hehe. Anyway, can you tell us something about your blacksmith?
C: Cohen was a… very weird blacksmith. Being one of the firsts and with absolutely no idea where to toss stats at, he became a Str/Dex build with level 1 Mammonite, huzzah! Despite my nooblish mistakes with his build he remains to be my favorite character that I have ever created for an MMO. In fact, in one way or another, Cohen’s template - be it looks, build, or choice of weaponry - found its way into every avatar I played in other MMORPG’s. I’ve stopped playing RO for a very very long time now, but I cant wait to get my mitts on RO2 and reroll Cohen all over again. This time with a better build! Hahaha.
W: Yup, Ragnarok 2 is definitely coming and I’ll give you a CBT invite, hehe. By the way, what’s your best RO memory?
C: Oh man, setting up CohenPiont has got to be the pinnacle of my RO “career”. Sure, I wasn’t making as much money as the other blacksmiths who were taking more risks than me, but having a loyal customer base and having people come up to you saying stuff like “Wow, si Cohen” was super fun. I’m proud to say that a lot of uber blacksmiths took up the hammer and anvil after seeing me in “action”. Up until this day, I have no idea what they meant because I spent most of my time vending, hahaha! Spending half of my day replying to PM’s (I didn’t like setting up the ignore function) was a damn chore, but being able to help people was a great experience. Urgh, except for the time everyone was asking for Fujin Ken? Something like that. That stupid Divine Wind sword that appeared in a loading screen but wasn’t an actual item. I’ve stopped RO for awhile now, but I can’t wait to reroll him for RO2! I know I have a little spot in Prontera just waiting for me, haha!
W: I was fortunate enough to have you in my guild. How was I as a GM?
C: Waukeen was an awesome GM. He was looking for the strongest and the most elite of battlesmiths and, well, got me instead. Being in Shadow Circle was an awesome experience! I have a tattoo of the SC logo on my back just to bring that point home, haha! He united a LOT of people for a common goal and we had a damn good time following it. Wauks was a great GM, but he was an even better friend. He took care of his guild in-game and in real life as well, I personally have a lot of things I want to thank him for, so I’ll do it here. Thanks tsong! (sabay hug)
W: Hahaha, thanks for the pimping man. Anyway, to wrap this interview up, what are your plans for the future?
C: Well, if I survive my probation, maybe I’ll have my own regular show on Magic 89.9! That would be outstanding, baby! Further down the road? I definitely wanna work in media, either in the background or in the spotlight. Spotlight preferred of course, makapal kasi mukha ko eh, hahaha!
Catch Cohen at MAGIC 89.9 on the Midnight High with Junior Jock Scott show, Tuesday evenings 12 midnight to 3 in the morning! Yeah - his name on-air is Scott not Cohen, hehe. You guys can also visit his blog at http://scottontherocks.blogspot.com.

[...] addiction and negative. This is one of the reasons why I’m going to show more interviews with successful gamers like Cohen. People tend to forget the social relationships and values that gamers learn while they are online. [...]

hehehehe Si sensei - Cohen nainterview na rin. ^^V
Cohen and Wauks where the persons who introduced me into the Blacksmith profession back in the early days of RO. Cohen, was the first smith (well, acolyte niya yung nakilala ko si BishopCohen) that I talked to and he gave me some tips (Alphanumbers pa siya nun si pa SC) after that si wauks na yung nagtuloy ng aking BS training to be. (mga bossing pasensiya sa pang gugulo ko sainyo during the Beta Days) after that I took a leave at RO (board exams) then I changed servers so di ko na sila nakausap.
Last thing I heard about Cohen is nasa Tribo Habagat siya sa WoW.
karl-san (tama pa rin ba yung pag kaalala ko sa name mo sir?) nice to hear na your doing good in the Mass Media field. nasa Magic ka pala. hehehehe
