Chris Hemsworth, the actor who played James Kirk’s father in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek movie, will be carrying a huge hammer and wearing a red cape, silver helmet, and will be sporting long blond hair for his next movie. Apparently, Chris Hemsworth just bagged one of the biggest roles of his career – Marvel has selected him to be Thor. So sorry to everyone who was hoping that WWE Superstar Triple H will be the one destined to be the protector of Asgard (hahaha). More details about Marvel’s Thor movie after the break.

According to Slash Film, Thor is scheduled for release June 17, 2011. The story will focus on how Thor realizes his true potential as a god from Asgard and his role in protecting the humans of Earth. Apparently Chris Hemsworth was able to deliver a flawless audition piece for Thor, one the had the casting crew saying “OMG”. Well, hopefully there’s no WTFBBQ after when they said that.

So… what do you guys think? Does Chris Hemsworth do justice to the comic book god of thunder?

Marvel is just showering us with live versions of popular comics. I hope the Deadpool film will be released early [even though it's in pre-production]. Should there be a Thor movie, they should provide him with an alter ego/secret identity.

      Chris Hemsworth? i hope he’s worth-it.

Astig siguro pag na pedigree ni Triple H/Thor is Loki, hahaha.

Not worth it, but I think the decision is final. So there is nothing I can do about it.

Triple won’t be wielding just a Sledgehammer.. Mjolnir!! XD

    • Kaiser on May 20, 2009

      Triple H, I mean.

I’m with you Alpha. Didn’t really like his performance in Star Trek. His acting was kinda bland.

Well if the casting crew were amazed by Mr. Hemsworth, then I guess he’ll be able to pull it off. That is if the casting crew had guidance, say a panel of comic book writers. *holds fingers crossed*

My personal choice would’ve been Titan ( the blonde dude with the “gentleman shtick” ) from the American Gladiators TV show. He had the bulk and he sometimes spoke in a “flowery like Old World” way to represent his character.

      But Triple H as Thor??

Come on… Imagine a Norse God with Golden Brown leathery tanned Skin.

And I just can’t imagine him pulling off a Shakespearean accent (which is wierd considering Thor’s of Norse/Asgardian heritage) without looking like total tool. XD

Triple H + “Have at Thee” = FAIL.
