Blogging 101
I’m not a blogging expert – in fact Waukster Online was born out of boredom. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of people out there who can give you guys better advice. I’m just doing this so everyone can get the basics. For Perfect World hopefuls, it’s your ticket to the CBT. For RO Players, it’s a chance to win in-game items and cash prizes. And for the ordinary person, it’s your expression of yourself, your “mark of existence†in the web, if you will.
First and foremost, let’s define “Blogâ€. The word is a contraction of “Web Logâ€. I suppose saying Web Log is too techy so someone decided to call it a “Blog†instead. The first thing you need is a blogging space. There are numerous free programs out there that you can use. One of the most popular ones is www.blogger.com. For the sake of focus, I will concentrate on teaching how to use that platform. Why? It is one of the easiest to use. For people with cash to spend, you can go as far as buying your own domain and web host and use wordpress (similar to this blog). The first step is rather simple. Just click on the Sign-up tab and input the necessary information needed.
You will be brought to your Dashboard or your control panel. Here you manage the various blogs you have (if you have a lot). Just click on the “Create a Blog†link and just fill out all the information it’s asking you. At this point, you can also pick the template that you want to use.
Before you type your first post, let’s fix the lay-out of your blog. With blogger, it’s really easy to do this because of their nifty lay-out tool. Just click “Lay-out†at the options on your dashboard and you will be able to arrange your page elements.
This is really easy. It’s like click-and-dragging from your PC to your I-POD. You can move around the various components of your blog and even make new ones. Just click “Add Page Element†and play around with the stuff you can do. You can add links (don’t forget to link www.waukster.com LOL), post pictures, put google adsense, and a whole lot of other stuff.
Okay from there all you have to do is keep on posting stuff. Just click the “Posting†button and keep writing and publishing stuff. It’s really easy-to-do and you will find it really enjoyable. Of course it will be better if people visit your blog, so tell your friends about it. Use it as a signature in the forums or on your e-mail. Ask people to review your blog as well because it will be a good way for you to fine tune the content.
Oh yeah for putting YOUTUBE videos on your blog all you have to do is to copy the code at space labelled “EMBED”. Paste that into your blog and you’ll be able to play the video without actually going to youtube.

Also, if you’re the type who blog on the go, Blogger can give you a special e-mail address where you can post blogs from your e-mail client. Now all I need is to find out how to send e-mails from my cellphone.
And would-be bloggers, please use good design, and not those horrible friendster-like designs that end up worse than abysmal. You’ll be doing everyone a big favor, including yourself. Of course, if you get stuck in such stuff, the web is always there.

For tips of how to earn from your blog, the first thing you can do is get an Adsense account from Google. For more tips on how to optimize your blog and generate traffic, I suggest you guys go to Darren Rose’s site http://www.problogger.net.
Also, you can then use tools to keep track of your visitors like technorati.com, myweblog.com
Finally, it will also make sense if you have feeds. Go to feedburner.com and then “ping” it always so that other bloggers will know that you’ve updated your blog.

i think the best way to earn from blogs is setting ads that blends on the lay out/theme of the site =)
in this way readers won’t notice it as an ad coz I know we all hate ads! =)

Anyway, I have bad news for PW fans outside of the Philippines. PW PH will block foreign IPs. You can still try getting into CBT and OB, but I can’t assure you that you will be able to log-in the game.
