Apple’s 3G iPhone Coming this August?
According to Inquirer Blog Mobile Philippines, there’s a big chance that Apple’s 3G iPhone will debut in the Philippines this coming August 22, 2008. That’s less than a month from now and I’m sure that the Apple fan boys all over the country are already salivating over the idea of owning the 3G iPhone. Personally I’m still happy with my NOKIA N95 8GB but I’m really tempted to get the iPhone just because of the brand. In terms of function though I still believe that the N95 still has an advantage especially with the 5MP Camera. Note that I use the phone camera a lot since I take a lot of photos during events.

Here’s a quote from the article:
Though I’m quite happy about this bit of info, I’m still a bit skeptical with this one since original only 22 countries where slated for the release. It was only during a quarterly conference that the additional 20 more countries where announced though no specifics were given according to Macworld. You also need to take into consideration the local buzz that’s leaning towards a September release date, not August. There’s also Apple’s inability to cope with the demand that has left many would-be buyers frustrated over the fact that they’re unable to purchase one even in the motherland of the iPhone, the USA of all places. What more in other countries?
Anyway, it’s still a shade under a month away and I guess that’s enough time for more news to leak out regarding its inevitable local debut. Keep your fingers crossed and stayed tuned guys. The countdown is about to begin.
I think I’ll need to make a separate post asking advice from you guys in picking between NOKIA’s N95 8GB versus the 3G iPhone. It will definitely make for interesting discussion!

iPhone will only be worth it if you jailbreak it and allow 3rd party apps to be installed in it. The bare iphone sucks. So many features that it doesn’t have without those 3rd party apps.

based from my experience hehe.. (di 3g, iphone ko.. pero what more if 3g?)
1. Di ko na need magCheck ng E-mail sa pc.. meron xiang “Mail” na program.. na pwede sa yahoo account, gmail account and other email account mo.. so one click.. maguupdate na siya.. di mo na need magLog-in, from time to time para lang magread ng mail.. kahit offline, mababasa mo.. bsta naupdate mo..
2. Easy access sa internet.. During class hours, nakakapaginternet ako.. (nakikinig akoo @_@). Classmate ko nagOnline enrollment using my phone during class hours din yun @_@.. xiempre dpt may Wi-Fi
3. A lot would say na.. “hindi ako makaForward ng message..” “wlang video cam!” and etc.. pero you can download a lot of useful programs sa iTunes.. pero kapag sa greenhills mo pina-unlock, may free “installer” n program.. so hindi mo na need bumili ng programs sa iTunes..
nagdownload ako ng Dictionary, E-book, Band (I can play the piano on my iPhone), Sketches(drawing pag ala magawa), pocketGuitar, fartz (uutot iphone.. pwede pangLoko..) and etc…
4. nakakapagWAUKSTER.COM ako using iPhone! haha.. (sipsip mode ulit)

@reikoku
you can download those applications on iTunes.. Most of the 3rd party applications are available on iTunes.. It’s a bit expensive, though.
Possible naman magkaroon ng iTunes Philippines..
*cross-fingers*

@joel
meron namang 3rd party apps na libre lang na di kasama sa itunes. hehe. sa case ng brother ko na mod niya yung iphone niya in such a way na sobrang ganda na ng iphone na gusto mo talaga bumili din. yung installer na program is nasama siya pag jailbreak mo nung iphone. pag nakajailbreak tanggal warranty kaya dapat may nakainstall na app para matago yung mga icons mo. gg

What iphone represent is more that just a high class mobile phone, it’s even going to to integrate more mobile internet device into it and turn to be life mobile device. It created a crazy social topic in hong kong for a week when launched in hong kong, i think in philipines, people would also get influence by iphone’s PR promotion and love of it more than nokia.

Maybe you should include samsung i900 omnia on your list.
According to gsmarena.com, the Samsung i900 Omnia has left us with nothing but good impressions. Everything about the device speaks “high-tech” - from the innovative touch interface through the rich connectivity and multimedia capabilities to the exclusive hardware characteristics such as the optical touchpad or the 5 megapixel camera.
It’s probably the first time that a Windows Mobile PocketPC turns out as a fully-fledged multimedia device. Samsung have made sure that the i900 Omnia is equally fit for both business and entertainment.
Overall the Samsung Omnia is a well-balanced product that seems in for some major success on the market. We think that “balanced” is the key word here as the major competitors - the HTC Touch Diamond and the iPhone 3G - seem to offer more in some respects but severely fall behind in others.
And what’s more, at a startup price of 500 euro, the Samsung i900 Omnia is also a good value for money as this kind of cash would hardly buy you a more complete feature pack than that.

Just dont break your iPhone.
I have 2, i bought another one instead of repairing the old one because the repair cost 10k. ^_^

the real problem here is not the bugs or disadvantages,tanngapin na po natin na most of pinoys buying techy stuff don’t know how to use its functions and just got it for looks,i always hear sa mall “ay yan yung bago na phone, touchscreen yan buy ka para astig” wenks. the real prob is the price, who would buy it sa sobrang taas na presyo? well di bale ng walang makain basta my magandang phone at pangtext XD
July 31st, 2008 at 11:39 pm

The iphone is nice and all - it has the search capability (that for is me essential) that all generic mp3 players dont. Of course the iphone is a phone -hence the alphnumeric keypad.
Speaking of a broken screen iphone, i have a post here:

now that’s something the iphone cant live without lol
