Naruto Shippuuden 29-30 was finally released last weekend and it felt so good watching Kakashi use the new Sharingan. Did you guys know that it took him 3 long months to use that technique? We’ve been watching him and Naruto jump on logs endlessly since August! That’s just crazy. It’s so frustrating to watch him talk about his secret weapon every episode and not get to see him use it. Kakashi’s use of the Mangekyou Sharingan raises a lot of questions, but I’m sure there’s an explanation that will make sense of everything.

Episode 29-30 picks up after Team Gai finally manages to defeat their clones. We don’t see yet who was the Akatsuki that made the clones. Episode 29-30 concludes the fight between Akatsuki member Daidara versus Kakashi and Naruto. It’s been a long time coming but we finally see Kakashi use the new Sharingan and I must say… it kicks ass. Kakashi uses the Mangekyou Sharingan, creating a dimensional vacuum which blows away Daidara’s arm! Naruto capitalizes by creeping up and he manages to destroy most of the bird that Daidara used to fly with a Rasengan.
Naruto recovers Gaara from the clay bird but he realizes that Gaara’s dead. He takes out his frustration on Daidara by literally punishing him with merciless and ruthless punches. Too bad that it turned out to be a substitute and he finds this out when he lands a Rasengan. I must say that Naruto is getting more “emo” with every episode that passes. He’s loosing the cool effect and he’s looking and sounding more like a baby, hehe.
At this point, we see red chakra envelope Naruto’s body. Kakashi realizes that this was the technique that Jiraya warned him about – the Demon Fox’s Cloak! Based from what we see, the Demon Fox’s Cloak is an involuntary technique wherein the Demon Fox takes over Naruto’s body. His strength, speed, and almost all other aspects are greatly amplified and it would be great to see him eventually control this. Naruto goes berserk but fortunately Kakashi was given the means to subdue him by blocking the Demon Fox chakra by Jiraya. Kakashi successfully stops Naruto by placing a really ugly piece of paper on his forehead (LOL).
Team Gai arrives and then engages Daidara. They prove to the world that they’re useless when they can’t even take out an Akatsuki member with no arms. Daidara manages to hold them off with a blade on his mouth. He eventually finds the clay bird and bites off it and he makes one huge bomb out of himself. Luckily for the Konoha ninja, Kakashi was able to send the explosion to another dimension using his Sharingan. Chiyo and Sakura then arrive and they try to revive Gaara. Sakura fails but Chiyo has something up her sleeve. The episode ends with Chiyo’s attempt and I’m sure that this segment will finally conclude when Naruto Shippuuden resumes on October 18, 2007.
Personally, I found this episode to be relatively okay. There was nothing outstanding about it except for seeing Naruto go berserk while under the Demon Fox Cloak. I still find the pace of the anime kinda slow and the fact that they have two week breaks isn’t helping. Hopefully they can speed up things and come out with more action-packed episodes in the coming months. I’ve been reading the manga and I must say that I’m excited to see it translated to anime. The Demon Fox Cloak is very integral to the over-all story and I’m sure it will blow everyone away when the story behind it gets revealed.
