Anime Review: Naruto Shippuuden 28
In Naruto Shippuuden 27, we saw Sakura and Chiyo finally take down Saosori. It was a battle that lasted for several episodes and both sides used techniques that we’ve never seen before. Their fight truly deserves to be called one of the best battle sequences in all of Naruto’s history. On the other hand, we have Team Gai. Their battle deserves to be called the WORST IN THE HISTORY OF ALL ANIME TITLES. Sorry about that outburst, I can’t help but be a bit disappointed with how Naruto Shippuuden 28 turned out.
Naruto Shippuuden 28 concludes the battle of Team Gai with their replicas. Don’t take the jump if you don’t want to read spoilers.
Team Gai has so much potential in terms of battle scenes and character development. Neji and Rock Lee’s rivalry alone could be a different anime series. The history and depth of Neji’s plot combined with Rock Lee’s determination, willpower, and stupidity makes for good comedy and action. The problem is that the past few episodes, including this one, totally undermines the value of Team Gai. Instead of looking good, Team Gai is perceived to be weak and really… well… stupid. Gai, Tenten, Neji, and Lee all get whooped by their replicas. Other than that, the animation for the fight scenes was also rather rough and repeatitive, thus giving the impression that the artists and animators for this particular episode were lazy.
Obviously, Team Gai won’t loose. The question is how they won - and that part alone is really ridiculous. Rock Lee saves the day by stating the obvious - that they just need to become stronger than they were when they first saw the replicas. In doing so, he rallies the moral of Team Gai, and this leads to their overwhelming victory against the replicas. Their motto - “Stronger than I was yesterday” is the one thing that brings them the win.
Based from the preview of Naruto Shippuuden 29, it looks like we will finally see Kakashi use his new Sharingan. I’m just praying that it doesn’t drag out for several boring episodes.

Sakura-chan wub youu - Rock Lee. Still cant forget that scene, although it was difficult to fight yourself with same ability and endless stamina what disappointed me was that Neji was late in realizing the situation and it was Rock Lee who realize the way out. Neji was suppose to be a genius that why he is a Jounin at a young age compared to Rock Lee who is a Chounin or even Naruto, is the strongest in his generation and heck is still a Genin. Just a manga spoiler, this week manga really solidify or makes the speculations of most fans that Tobi is really Uchiha Madara. But the twist this week is that Jiraya thinks that Madara summoned the Nine Tail and that Minato has a purpose on why he sealed the Nine Tail on his son. Guess we just have to wait for the up coming chapters.
